Responding to the charges against her Dolores recounts her life in a tightly woven narrative that is beguiling and touching at the appropriate moments. Im not one to read fictions or novels so I usually speed read and honestly got quite frustrated at how long it took to get to the obvious.

Aside from a brief ghostly encounter the story doesnt revolve around supernatural phenomena or evil beings. It is because books such as Dolores Claiborne that Stephen king is considered one of the greatest authors. Dolores is not a long-winded character.

I think King took that to heart when writing her although I dont know many people that can tell a single story especially to a police officer that is over 300 pages long. There are hints of the supernatural - much of the book works toward the culminating event which takes place during an eclipse - but if youre expecting vampires zombie pets or demons this isnt the boo. Its Doloress final years with Vera though and the bitter manner of Veras death that have brought Dolores to the sheriffand that ultimately transform this like Geralds Game into a devastating tale of heroism in the face of lifes suffering.
